The Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge makes its home at the north end of the Kennedy Space Center. Yes, we launch rockets from Merritt Island and the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station with support from Patrick Air Force Base just south of Cocoa Beach. Our small county of 560,000 residents has more high-tech jobs per capita than any place in the country except Silicon Valley.

Port Canaveral has grown to the second largest cruise ship port in the world with Disney and Carnival cruise lines leading the way. It is less than an hour drive to Orlando’s theme parks such as Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios to name a few. Our clean and uncrowded beaches are a great place for rest and relaxation as well.
